What / Who is Celtic Download ?

Celtic Music finds itself in a relatively small and specialist marketplace, neither mainstream or obscure, with discerning customers who know exactly what they want !

Celtic Download specialises in all varieties of Celtic music produced by small and independent artists. The kind of artist that fans have a great time watching - performing the kind of music they'll have a great time listening to !

Our aim to do is promote Celtic music and give artists a place to showcase their music and bring it to both their existing fans, listeners and new audiences - such as the 'iPod Generation' - more importantly, bring it directly to the customers that matter - fans of Celtic music !

The founders of Celtic Download have worked with various bands and artists for over 10 years providing them with managed web services and bespoke eCommerce solutions.  For the last few years we've been working with 'Albannach' and produced a highly successful online store where fans could purchase and download their music.

Seeing that the download store was a huge success in bringing music directly to their fans we decided to expand the service to other artists, and finding that there did not seem to be a specialist Celtic music download store, came up with the idea of Celtic Download !

What services do you provide ?

The main service we provide is that we will promote and sell your music in digital download format !  We can also provide cost effective web hosting for your band along with managed web services should you require them.

What are your revenue rates ?

Currently we will pay artists a market leading 75% of all gross sales (the list price), with 80% available for those artists willing to give us 'digital exclusivity'.

The 'big-label' stores out there pay an average of 60-70% - while they may have a bigger audience / customer base, their focus is usually on pop, rock and RnB genres - Celtic artists might find themselves as small fish in a very big pond !

By promoting your music directly to Celtic music fans, we feel that we can maximise your exposure, and by cross promoting you with similar artists, hopefully bring your music to those new audiences that artists seek.

How will you promote my band or my music ?

We will be undertaking a variety of marketing activities such as sending out regular newsletters to our customers, and featuring different artists and albums on a regular basis to grab the attention of visitors and customers on our website.  We will also be advertising the service on various sources such as internet radio stations and major social networks.

One of the other cool things we'll be doing is cross-promoting artists with one another, so that when customers buy music from one particular artist - we will also recommend products from other similar artists, in order to bring your music to the attention of new audiences and increase sales of your music.

How much does it cost ?

Nothing, nada, not a bean, zero, zilch !

What do I need to do ?

Not much, just provide us with a 'master' copy of your music (either digitally, or post us a CD), we'll handle the rest.  You'll also need to send us any artwork you want us to use, and sign a Supplier Agreement, which includes a copyright release and disclaimer.

Sounds good, how do I sign up ?

There's a few things to do:

1. Fill in our artist registration form, we'll then send you a pre-filled copy of our Supplier Agreement which you'll need to sign and return to us.  You can read the terms of our supplier agreement here.

2. Send us a 'master' copy of your music, your preferred artwork, and some blurb for your artist profile.  You can upload this to our server using the artist registration form, do it later using our file upload form, or you can send it in the mail.

3. Once we've set up your profile and added your products to our store, it'd be a really good idea if you could advertise the service on your website.  We'll email you with some graphics and ideas anyway !
